Basic types of pottery

Pottery of different types and origins made up much of the cargo of each ship. The most important types to be shown in the exhibition are:

Earthenware, unglazed	Stoneware, decorated in black under a clear glaze	Stoneware, with celadon glaze	Porcelain, with blue-and-white glaze

Not all blue-and-white is porcelain; cobalt blue decoration under a clear glaze may also be used on stoneware.
