Basic types of pottery

Pottery of different types and origins made up much of the cargo of each ship. The most important types to be shown in the exhibition are:

Pot from the 'Longquan', diameter 16.5cm
Sukhothai ring-handled jar from the 'Turiang', height 12cm
Sisatchanalai plate from the 'Royal Nanhai', diameter 31cm
Chinese tea bowl from the 'Desaru', height 11cm
Earthenware, unglazed
Stoneware, decorated in black under a clear glaze
Stoneware, with celadon glaze
Porcelain, with blue-and-white glaze

Not all blue-and-white is porcelain; cobalt blue decoration under a clear glaze may also be used on stoneware.
